INNOVIM designed, built, and maintains NASA’s Ice, Cloud and Land Elevation – 2 (ICESat-2) ground system to provide spacecraft command and control, instrument support, and next generation science data products to the global climate community.
The company has played a key role in the design and implementation of hardware and software for the Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS). The system’s hardware is responsible for producing the science data products used in climate science, evaluation, and modeling. Its design and implementation consists of low-cost commodity hardware that performs high performance processing of advanced science algorithms and storage of more than three petabytes of data. Participation in NASA reviews has been a requirement for the project as well, including PDR, CDR, and MOR.
SIPS provides science data products to the global climate community and delivers relevant, timely environmental intelligence. INNOVIM delivered the SIPS hardware infrastructure on time and within budget. It is designed to be scalable and flexible, allowing for the rapid processing and distribution of science data. Furthermore, IT security was built in from the start, not added as an afterthought.
INNOVIM’s capabilities span the data lifecycle. Our scientists and engineers create and collect data through sensors located on Earth and in space, manage the infrastructure that supports large-scale data analysis, and transform the results into actionable information through data visualization techniques and decision-making systems.
INNOVIM serves US government agencies including the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and Department of Defense (DoD).
