The Suomi NPP Mission successfully launched it’s $1.5 bil. spacecraft in October 2011. It’s the first satellite designed to collect data for both short-term weather forecasting and long-term climate modeling, and the critical precursor to even more capable Earth-observing satellites in the future.
The INNOVIM team engaged in this project was awarded a NASA Group Achievement Award for “extraordinary dedication, skill, teamwork, and perseverance.”
